Data-intensive research is rapidly expanding beyond high-energy physics. Fields such as astronomy, gravitational-wave physics and nuclear physics must now address similar challenges involving large datasets, distributed computing resources and virtual research environments.
As the technological ecosystem moves towards increasingly centralised and specialised facilities, research communities based on distributed computing need stronger connections. Sharing technical solutions across disciplines can reduce duplicated effort and accelerate innovation while allowing each community to retain the tools and approaches required by its specific scientific domain.
The ESCAPE Collaboration responds to this need by bringing different scientific communities together to consolidate existing technologies and jointly develop new tools. It also provides a forum for exchanging knowledge, learning from shared experience and building sustained coordination across data-intensive research fields.
