Area Science Park offers two STEM graduates €15,000 each to attend the first MDMC edition and gain practical research data skills in Trieste
Two young STEM graduates will have the opportunity to develop specialist skills in scientific data management through the first edition of the Master in Data Management and Curation (MDMC).
The advanced training programme is organised by Area Science Park, SISSA – International School for Advanced Studies and CNR-IOM – Istituto Officina dei Materiali. It forms part of the activities supporting the NFFA-DI and PRP@CERIC projects, funded through Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan to strengthen digital research infrastructures in materials and life sciences.
Created for early-career researchers, the MDMC combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience. Participants will explore Open Science methodologies, FAIR-by-design data management, data FAIRification and the use of tools for acquiring, enriching and analysing data and metadata.
The programme begins with six weeks of in-person classes in Trieste, scheduled between September and October 2024. This is followed by seven months of experimental training in Area Science Park’s laboratories, from November 2024 to May 2025.
To encourage participation, Area Science Park has opened an expression-of-interest procedure to select two candidates, each of whom will receive a flat-rate reimbursement of €15,000 to help cover the costs associated with the programme.
Applicants must:
- hold at least a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a scientific discipline, engineering, computer science or a related field;
- be unemployed;
- have a good knowledge of English.
Applications must be submitted by 31 May 2024. An information session presenting the programme and the available training opportunities will take place on 22 May at 10:00 AM.
