This thesis, titled "Implementation of FAIR Principles for XPS Data at MODA Laboratory through NeXus File Format", presents a comprehensive effort to enhance scientific data management by applying the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles to X-ray Photoemission Spectroscopy (XPS) data at the MODA Laboratory, part of CNR-SPIN in Naples, Italy. The author developed a Python-based conversion pipeline that transforms proprietary .vms data files and metadata into the standardized NeXus format using the NXxps application definition. This work addresses challenges in metadata completeness, reproducibility, and long-term accessibility by integrating data from electronic lab notebooks (eLabFTW) and leveraging the pynxtools library. The solution is designed to be modular, user-friendly, and compatible with broader European infrastructure efforts, particularly within the NFFA-DI initiative. By aligning technical implementation with community standards and real-world laboratory constraints, the thesis demonstrates a scalable model for FAIR-aligned data stewardship in surface science research.
