Python for Data Management I

Coursework

Develop practical skills for building reproducible data processing workflows and simple data-driven web applications using Python. Through collaborative, hands-on exercises, this module introduces students to the different stages of a data pipeline, from data acquisition and transformation to feature extraction and visualization. Students will also explore the fundamentals of web back-end development and learn how Python applications can retrieve and process data from external services through REST APIs.

Key topics

  • Building collaborative data processing pipelines with Python and GitHub
  • Reading, transforming, and exchanging data using formats such as JSON
  • Feature extraction, data processing, and visualization
  • Fundamentals of Django and back-end web development
  • Accessing and processing data from external sources through REST APIs

Learning Outcomes

  • Design and implement a simple data processing pipeline in Python
